Theme: The Gospel Person
After Isaiah meets God in His temple he cries out: "Woe to me!... I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty." Is 6:5
- What is the ability you have that you rely on the most in a difficult situation? Is it your friendliness, your sharp intellect, your brute strength or your sense of humour. In Isaiah's case it was his lips.
- He is an educated man with, if you read the rest of his book, the most amazing speaking skills. But here, as he meets God, the thing he had the most confidence in becomes the thing he most despises: "I am a man of unclean lips!"
- Whatever it is that you are relying on when you prepare to meet God, if it is not Jesus Christ alone it will be of no use to you at all. In fact, it will just serve to show you who your real god is instead of God.
