John 3:18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. -       God gave a way for all of us to remove the label that says we are 'condemned'. -       If you do not believe in Christ the same will happen to you that will happen to a boiler/geyser that is labelled as 'condemned'. It gets pulled out and thrown into a skip. -       But if you believe in the one God has sent, in that moment you move from being condemned to being honoured like only a Son of God can be. Prayer: Almighty God, your are both righteous and loving. Although I deserve to spent an eternity away from you, you showed me your great love for me on the cross. Thank you that your love and grace warmed my heart to you - would you do the same for so many others I know and love. Amen Rev. Kruger de Kock You are receiving these em...

Me, myself... IN CHRIST.

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Rom 8:1 -       We don't use the word 'condemnation' in our normal language, but all of us fear it. -       If something is condemned 'complete disapproval' has been expressed of it and we live our lives to avoid that! -       But a Christian is called not to live in fear of possible 'condemnation' but to live 'in Christ'. -       Why does this work? Because on the cross God the Father expressed 'complete disapproval' of his son who represented everyone that's 'in Christ'. But, in him being raised three days later the Father expressed complete approval of him and all that are in Him. Prayer: Almighty God, thank you for the gift of life. Please help us to live in Christ rather than in fear. Amen Rev. Kruger de Kock You are receiving these emails because you have visited or supported Canada Water Church or S...

Me, myself... IN HIM.

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Philippians 4:4 -       We are really so 'into' ourselves aren't we? -       By Christ's death on the cross he really wanted us to see how 'into' his people he is. -       That gives believers all the reason to 'rejoice in the Lord'. -       What Christians are called to do is to get their joy not from being 'into' a boss/colleague/friend/husband/wife's approval but to get it from the Jesus who was willing to die for them on the cross. Prayer: Almighty God, you love your Son and he gives you eternal joy. Thank you that you have sent him to die and be raised for us so that we, through faith in him could get 'into' him. Please help us to see that we can now enjoy the same benefits and privileges that belongs to him. Amen Rev. Me, myself and... HIM

When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honour. Psalm 8:5 -       Do you want to get rid of your self-centredness? -       Look at something greater than you. As you look at the heavens, the moon, the stars... consider who made them. -       Now, think about the fact that he was willing to stoop down and die on a cursed cross for you. -       Doesn't that just blow your self-centredness away? He is far greater than you yet He decided to do the most other-centred thing he could - by dying for his enemies. Prayer: Almighty God, how wonderful are your works - how beautiful must you be... Thank you for showing me someone far more worthy of all my...

Me, myself and I

Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” Genesis 1:26 A few truths about yourself as the week starts: 1.       You were made by someone and you belong to him. 2.       That someone made you in 'their image'. 3.       That means you were made for relationships and community. Why? Because the God that made you is a relationship or a community: One God in three persons - Father, Son and Holy Spirit. 4.       You were made to do something - to care for God's creation and his creatures (including people). Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, I must confess that I don't live for You, others and your creation. I turn every opportunity to do that into an occasion to live for me, my...

Mere Christianity - C.S. Lewis - Part 3 (I'm sorry, I lost my copy of Mere Christianity)

"We are faced, then, with a frightening alternative. This man we are talking about either was (and is) just what He said or else a lunatic, or something worse. Now it seems to me obvious that He was neither a lunatic nor a fiend: and consequently, however strange or terrifying or unlikely it may seem, I have to accept the view that He was and is God. God has landed on this enemy-occupied world in human form. And now, what was the purpose of it all? What did He come to do? Well, to teach, of course; but as soon as you look into the New Testament or any other Christian writing you will find they are constantly talking about something different—about His death and His coming to life again. It is obvious that Christians think the chief point of the story lies here. They think the main thing He came to earth to do was to suffer and be killed." C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity Yes, Jesus was a teacher but the Bible tells us who He was and what He came to do. Just listen to J...
