Thank you!

Goodmorning, I just wanted to say a big thank you to all of you that prayed for the Carols by Candlelight event we had this past Sunday.  We had around 120 people which was more than double the number I expected! It was a great evening where the Gospel was clearly explained both in the songs and in the short talk that followed.  Afterwards we had mince pies and mulled wine while people from our whole community got to know each other better.  You can see some pictures  here . To God all the glory for making this possible! Warm Regards (from a white London) Kruger .................................................................... Why Chrismass? (This Sunday is our Carols by Candlelight evening, 6pm at the Hilton Docklands!)

Hi Blogger Why the giving of gifts? Why all this fuss? I think it's a powerful reminder that there is an ultimate giver and and ultimate gift, and we are aching to have him. Well, that's how I feel when I see the tacky Christmas decorations all around me. It makes me want to look for something more... (I for one can understand why artist Giorgio Sadotti decided to decorate the Tate Brittian's christmass tree with... nothing.) Anyway, we have someone more. The Gift. Jesus Christ. Luke 2:12 "You will find a baby wrapped snugly in strips of cloth, lying in a manger." This baby is The Gift because he is God who became man. He is a better gift than the Hadron Collider that promises to recreate the first moment everything came into being - he is the Creator that brought everything into being. Prayer : Lord Jesus Christ, it is nearly unthinkable for us that the Creator comes to his creation as a jewish baby born in a stable... Help ...

Changed People #3

Hi Blogger Wether you like it or not, the pressure to change is constantly on us. We need to be careful with this pressure because it's a blunt instrument. Large scale advertising campaigns doesn't differentiate between you and the next person. The same goes for government policies and societal expectations. Before we know it we can all look the same ;-) In a letter to the Christians in Rome the apostle Paul writes to them and say: Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Rom 12:1 It's a call to resist the mould citizens of that city were being pushed into. Instead they were being called to submit to the transformation that the God of the Gospel would do in them by renewing their thinking. Prayer : Lord Jesus Christ, help us - in view of your great mercy - to submit more and more of our thinking to you. We ask that as we do this you will show us how we can uniquely worship you...

Changed People #2

Hi Blogger When any change is required we have an image or a role model in mind that embodies what you are aspiring to change about yourself. Using someone else's personality as a cookie cutter for yourself requires a tremendous amount of faith in that person. What if he or she fails? A christian is called to use Jesus Christ as their role model and more. He or she is to look to Jesus as the one who started their faith in him and he is the one that will complete it. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2 Prayer : Thank you Lord Jesus that we can put our faith in you because you did not fail us in any way. Please help me to fix my eyes on you. Amen. Notice: Only 5 days before our 6 pm Carols by Candlelight event on the 12th of December at the Hilton Hotel in Rotherhithe Street. Spread t...

Changed People

Hi Blogger We can hate it, or love it when people change. The deputy prime minister Nick Clegg is experiencing some of the anger for changing his mind on the tuition fees while people loved it when the Conservatives changed their view back in the 1990's on the poll tax. How do you feel about personal change? Can you change? Christianity holds that it's followers must constantly change the most fundamental thing about themselves - their self-view. You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. Ephesians 4:22-24 A believer is supposed to remember that their hearts are inclined to all kinds of deceit... but that Jesus Christ came to make them new, to give them new hearts. And it is in this newness of life that Christians are called to live. ...
