1 Timothy 1:7-9
But join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God, who has saved us and called us to a holy life–not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace.
- God's purpose with the Gospel is to reveal his grace.
- His 'grace' means He gives us what we don't deserve as if we've done everything to deserve it.
- This will lead to suffering since with their mouths Christians will confess to believe that they now belong to God, but with their lives they will give plenty of evidence that they belong to themselves.
- It is this misunderstanding that can only be overcome by living holy lives in front of a watching world.
Prayer: Jesus Christ, you gave is a Spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. Please remind us that although what you have done for us on the cross has been completed you are still at work in us to reveal your grace to the world. Please make us good witnesses of your grace. Amen
