Phillipians 3:7-9
But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ...
- Paul uses the language of an accountant here. The only difference is that he turns the 'profit' and 'loss' columns around!
- The things he used to put in the profit columns - power, prestige and obedience - he now puts in the loss column.
- And Christ, whom he used to put in the 'loss' column now goes into the profit column!
- Question is: is knowing and trusting Jesus Christ your ultimate jackpot? Do you view everything else differently?
Prayer: Lord Jesus, I confess that other things easily become worth more to me that you. Please forgive me, help me and lead me to know you as the ultimate jackpot in my life!
Amen
