2 Corinthians 8:8,9 I say this not as a command, but to prove by the earnestness of others that your love also is genuine. For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich.
... How do you know that your love for Jesus Christ is real?
... Do you know his grace? Do you know that He took your poverty on Himself to make you rich in Him?
... Only if you know this love will you have the motivation to become poor in order to give to those in need.
King Jesus Christ, help me to become involved with the poor - not only financially but also emotionally and socially. As I do this, I pray that my motivation will be the gospel and that my faith in that gospel will be strengthened. Amen
