Hi Blogger,
Very few of us will ever have the opportunity to spend a year traveling across Italy, India and Indonesia. For us eating, praying and loving will have to happen in the chaos of everyday life, wherever we are.
Perhaps the challenge lies in making the most of the meals, of God and the relationships we have rather than craving for what we don't have.
In Jesus' life on earth He made the most of all three. The meals he had were simple but fun - he was even branded as "glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and 'sinners.'" His prayers were often and intimate (Luke 5:16) and his love was real - not directed on self-fulfilment but on the salvation of others.
Col 3:17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Prayer: Almighty God and Father, everything I eat is a gift from you - help me to enjoy the simplest of meals. Everyone I love is a gift from you - help me to extend that same love even to my enemies. Everything I am in Christ is a gift from you - help me to rest in the finished work of Christ on the cross. Amen
