Where did the church come from?
Now the LORD said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father's house to the land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” Genesis 12:1-3
> God calls Abram, at that stage most likely a worshipper of the moon, to be the beginning of a new people for God.
> Abram has to give up his security and trust God's goodness as he's called to leave his family and his country.
> God promises that he will get a new country and a new family - but above all that through his family people from all the nations in the world will be blessed.
> Christ was the fulfilment of this promise - through faith in Him we came or can come into God's family and inherit an eternal country.
Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, if it weren't for your Spirit enabling me to trust in you I would never have been able to come into your church. Would you now also enable me to be blessing to the nations by continuously trusting in you. Amen

Please pray for our outreach event: Carols by Candlelight on 12 December at the Hilton Hotel in Rotherhithe Street.
We need help with:
- 8 people to give out leaflets and posters around Canada Water
- 3 people to welcome people on the evening and give out Orders of Service
- 3 people to serve mulled wine and mince pies after the service
- at least 10 people to sing in the music group
- 4 people to decorate the hall with Christmas decorations before the
- 1 person to do the overhead projector / video
- 20 people to donate towards a £500 goal. An employee of a bank will top it up to £500 and his employer will match our giving up to £500 = giving us the £1000 we need!
- Daily Prayer for the event
