Hebrews 4:11 Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following their example of disobedience.
For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double‑edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.
- To enter God's rest we must fulfil his law of love for him and our fellow human beings 100%.
- We can try to do it but the reality is that God sees our wrong attitude and corrupt motives with which we try to love him and others.
- It is because we couldn't love him or our neighbour as we should that he provided a Saviour for us.
- Let us 'make every effort' to continue to believe that Jesus Christ fulfilled God's requirements in our place.
Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, your Word doesn't just expose our motives and attitudes for no purpose. You expose us to heal and save us. We praise you for that and ask that you will give us the faith to continue believing in you to the end. Amen
