1 Corinthians 4:7 "For who makes you different from anyone else? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not?"
- In our society there is the constant pressure on us 'to make it'.
- We're not entirely sure what we have to make, or what it would look like if we've made it - but what we're sure of is that we can't just 'get it'.
- We tend to think that to 'get' or to receive makes us look weak or incapable.
- But strangely that is how we came into being - we received life. Not only that - we received our unique personalities, gifts and skills. And with that we continue to live - using those gifts and skills we received in the opportunities provided for us.
- We're less about 'making it' and all about 'getting it'.
Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, as we look at everything we have we realise that you gave it all to us. Help us to look to you as the Giver, not only for giving each one of us unique personalities but above all a Saviour that died in our place. We want to boast in what you have given us more and more. Amen
