What is the goal of you work?

"If the ladder is not leaning against the right wall, every step we take gets us to the wrong place faster" - Stephen Covey, The seven habits of highly effective people.

-       Obviously you work to get paid. But after you've got the money, why do you work? What is the end goal?
-       If you enjoy your work - is it your goal to stay there as long as you can and then retire happy and fulfilled? Will you be fulfilled?
-       If you don't enjoy your work and you've decided it's is a stepping stone to something else - what is that 'something else'? Will it be fulfilling?
-       Jesus worked with the end in mind. And as He died on the cross we get an insight into why he worked:

Joh 19:30 Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, your ladder leaned against the right wall. You lived and worked not for earthly success or human popularity - you lived and worked to please your Father. Through your work I can also now live in a relationship with God. Please help me to live with this ultimate goal in mind and live and work for you. Amen.
