Good morning,
Luke, one of the disciples that saw how Jesus lived and ministered wrote in Luke 5:16 that Jesus "would withdraw to desolate places and pray." He was himself doing what he told his disciples to do in Matthew 6:6: "go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father".
- Praying doesn't only exist so that we can ask God for things we need, but it is primarily the way for a believer to experience and express his or her love for God.
- In our human relationships we feel disconnected with our loved ones if we don't spend quality time together. The same is true for our relationship with God.
- In the same way that we can't love people without focussing just on them, in the same way we can't love God without slowing down and spending time with Him.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, help me to reconnect with you in the way you constantly had to do when you were on earth. Please make our relationship with you the driving force for everything that we do. Amen
