Wether your are a believer or not, this might be an useful answer to know. The Old Testament is the largest part of thé book that radically impacted the history of the world. What is it all about?
Jesus gives us the answer in Luke 24:25-27. Appearing to two men that were really discouraged because he died so suddenly Jesus said to them: “O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory?”
And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.
If you do not believe in Christ and you use the Old Testament to back your arguments - have you read the story of the Old Testament the way you're supposed to read it - all about Christ's suffering and glory?
If you are a believer and you only read the New Testament because the Old Testament is too difficult, have you tried reading it with Christ and the Gospel as the point of it all?

Lord Jesus, you gave us your word - the whole Bible to get to know you. Would you help us to see you on each page of scripture - revealed in as many different ways as we experience in our lives. Amen
