1 Thessalonians 1:4-10 For we know, brothers loved by God, that he has chosen you, because our gospel came to you not simply with words, but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and with deep conviction... you welcomed the message with the joy given by the Holy Spirit.
...you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead–Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath.
You believe in God because -
1. he loved you
2. he chose you
3. he sent someone to teach you the gospel
4. he sent his holy spirit to enable you to welcome the gospel with power, deep conviction and joy.
This supernatural embracing of the gospel causes -
1. you to turn to God from idols
2. you to serve God
3. you to wait for Jesus
Prayer:
Lord Jesus Christ, through your Spirit you convinced me of my sin, enlightened my mind with the knowledge of Christ, renewed my will and persuaded and enabled me to embrace you in faith. Thank you for all of this! Amen
