Goodmorning,
We are all made for community - just think of God's words about Adam in Genesis 2:18 - The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone..."
This is not surprising since God in who's image we are made is himself a community - one God but three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
If we were made for community - what kind of community is it that we are longing for? If we look at Jesus Christ's suffering and death we see a community founded on giving rather than receiving. This is this kind of community that we long for. No more 'self-centredness in the presence of others' but a community that looks away from ourselves to the needs of others.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus Christ, you came to complete the work your Father gave you to do (Joh 17:4). We praise you for your service and sacrifice and ask that you will make our church community more and more serving like you. Amen
