Being rich will make me happy
We know it's not true but somehow we keep on believing this myth. Jesus tells the story of a rich man that died and gone to Hades (hell). From there he says the following to Abraham and Lazarus, who used to be a poor beggar at his gate:

So [the rich man] called to him, 'Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.' Luke 16:24 - The rich man doesn't have a name while Lazarus does. Who are you without your wealth?
- The rich man doesn't want to leave hell - he just wants to be cooled down. Will you ever be satisfied with enough?
- Where in this world we pity the poor, in heaven the tables will be turned. Do you care for those that are blinded by the empty promises of wealth the same way you care for the poor?
Prayer Lord Jesus Christ, you became poor to make us rich. Help us to see that our treasure now is our new identity in you and the promise that you are enough for us. Amen
