God loves me
Is that the message of Christianity? No it isn't.
Bible
“Thus says the Lord God: “I do not do this for your sake, O house of Israel, but for My holy name’s sake.... I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh." Ezekiel 36:22,26 - God's love doesn't start and end with me. It starts and ends with Himself.
- Because God is for himself, he is also for me. After all, if I am a Christian he has placed his name on me! When He saves me - He gets the honour.
- This blessing of a new heart didn't happen to me in order to exalt me, or to make me better or to make me the focus.
- It came as a blessing in order to make his glory known to the world through the way he transformed me.
Prayer
Father God, I humbly confess that I thought it was all about me. Jesus Christ, through your death you exalted the Father and the Father exalted you by resurrecting you to life. Because you love yourself more than you love me you could redeem me. Please help me to let your blessing flow through me to the broken world around me - for the sake of your name. Amen
