I am more and less than I think
Bible When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? You have made them a little lower than the angles and crowned them with glory and honour. Psalm 8 - We can think too little of ourselves. Remember, although the moon and the stars are beautiful there is nothing in all of creation that resembles who God is better than human beings.
- We can think too much of ourselves. Although we were made in God's image we have this evil desire in us to dethrone Him and rule our own lives - always with devastating results.
- But the cross puts us right: there we see how arrogant and evil we are when we see what was necesary to pay for our sin. But at once we also see how valuable and loved we are when we realise that God paid that penalty gladly.
Prayer Lord Jesus Christ - I realise what you had to do to put me right with you. Thank you that you loved me that much. Help me to see that you care for me and help me now to live up to my identity as a child of God and the jewel in the crown of your creation.
