"I believe in Jesus but I don't like the church" If this is you, there might be a problem with your logic. Bible "And God placed all things under [Jesus'] feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way." Ephesians 1:22–23 - The church is not just a group of people standing around, holding hands and singing kumbayaa. Similarly it's also not a club to which people with a common interest belong to. It is in fact the body of Christ. Christ is the head of this body.
- When we separate our belief in Jesus from our belief in the church we are in fact decorpulating the church (It's like decapitate but instead of cutting the head off, we are cutting the body off - See Kluck & DeYoung).
- Submitting and following and listening to Jesus Christ is what church is all about. It's not hard to listen to the one who died for you, now lives in you and continues to care for you and others as if you are his very own body.
Prayer Lord Jesus Christ, you care for me and love me. I must confess that I sometimes forget that you don't only care for me in this special way, but also for your entire church - my brothers and sisters all over the world. Help me to discover that my family is much larger than I think and help me to share my life with them in you. Amen.
