London burning...
Last night rioters scarred London for a third night in a row as small, mobile gangs looted and set fire to shops and community centres. All eyes are now on the Prime Minister and the Mayor of London to cut their holidays short and return to London. We need leaders, don't we?

Jesus said: "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. The hired hand is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it. The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep." John 10:11 - Our prayers need to be with the Police as they bravely faced violent and irrational crowds during the riots in London last night.
- There comes a point where the police, our community leaders and political leaders are just not able to protect the people they are supposed to lead. Their own safety and comfort would naturally become more important to them than the needs of others.
- We are all like them - if we were in those positions of power and authority, would we do it entirely differently?
- We are not able to save ourselves and our loved ones all of the time. We need a better Saviour. Not a hired hand - but a 'good shepherd that lays down his life for the sheep'.
Prayer Lord Jesus Christ, you are the Good Shepherd we need. Thank you for leaving heaven, becoming one of us and taking the punishment we deserved on yourself, at the cost of your own life. We praise you for that and long to follow you better. Amen
