The Christmas HQ

It's early morning and I am in London's Christmas headquarters... Where could it be? Well, it depends on your view of what Christmas is all about.

Of course I am in Oxford street and it is buzzing with Christmas jingles, scuffling shoppers and advertisements for 'the perfect gift', 'the remedy for over-indulgence' and gingerbread eggnog latte (which isn't nearly as nice as it sounds). There is a certain amount of excitement to this... probably brought on by the decorations and music. But one needs to ask - 'Is this it?'.

Although Christmas is celebrated as a special time to remember Jesus' birth the Bible maintains that Christianity is supposed to be far simpler. Christians get an opportunity to remember Jesus' birth, life, death and resurrection almost from moment to moment. It is not the gifts or the jingles or the lights that reminds us but it is something in sharp contrast to all this cheerfulness... it's our own sin.

Bible
Paul wrote: "Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst." 1 Tim 1:15

Prayer
Lord Jesus Christ, help me to see that you are the real focus point of not only Christmas, but every day of my life. We needed you to come into this broken world, to pay for our sin through your death on the cross so that we could be united with our Heavenly Father. Please help us to enjoy this Christmas time for the the real gift you gave to us in Christ. Amen

Warm Regards
Kruger
