This giddy excitement that children have for Christmas is something that should mark our lives today - not over Christmas but for something far more transformative - Christ's return. The Bible holds it out as an event that will certainly take place - an event that will far surpass our wildest expectations, especially in it's power to bring life where there is death.
In the Apostle Paul's first letter to the Corinthians (15) he teaches them about this resurrection of believers at Christ's second coming:
Bible
"But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21 For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. 22 For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. 23 But each in his own turn: Christ, the firstfruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him." 1 Cor 15:20-23
Prayer
Lord Jesus Christ, we thank and praise you that we can look forward to this certain event in the future where you will raise those that belong to you to spend eternity with you. Full us with excitement and wonder and awe at your grace in giving us new life - and please protect us from an unreasonable skepticism towards this truth. Amen
Warm Regards
Kruger
